David Griffin

(Born Kingston, Jamaica) I work with drawing, colour and writing in a looping surmise. I have an unhealthy relationship with belief. I approach the most important things from the perspective of the 'Pataphysicist, for whom nothing is something.

My work has recently focused on music notations and geometric drawing, both of which allow users to construct bridges, and sing without making any sound.

  • In 2016, I fired a laser towards the centre of our galaxy, to consider our limits and flout conventions.
  • A year later I made a drawing that moves backwards in time.
  • I have explored natural principles of growth; I have tried to draw fire, and our incredible Sun.
  • My next project is a drawing that can end the Universe.

Currently Assistant Professor and Chair of the OCAD University Research Ethics Board in Toronto Canada, Griffin holds a Ph.D. from the Glasgow School of Art, an MFA from The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a BFA from Parsons School for Design, New York, NY.
